Many years ago, there was a group of cats that lived around a lake. They often had rivalries and scandals, and their lives were rarely boring. It was a successful system, and the majority of cats were content. In the fierce droughts of Summer and the chilling winds of Winter, though, small seeds of misfortune grew into plagues and wars, and eventually, greencough struck. The disease ravaged the cats, and wars began over the remaining catmint, the only cure.
The plague grew as the catmint dwindled. A war broke out over the few remaining plants and raged on even after the last of the herb was gone. Desperate to escape disease and war, a group of cats fled. they came from every Clan, and were desperate to create a better life for their descendants.
It was many moons before they found their new home. The lines between the four clans of old had blurred and the former rivalries were no more. New distinctions were made based upon beliefs and values, rather than the old physical markers. Four new clans were born: Mistclan, both pious and mysterious; Fernclan was compassionate and wise in their ways; Moorclan was the most combative and political; and Taigaclan, for the creative and strange. These four clans live together in peace on a small peninsula. Each clan has come to adapt to their territories and now live their days, content and safe, within their borders.
But, when a new rival clan shows up, the cats find that they are not as safe as they once believed. Their treaties crumbling around them, the clans must act quickly or risk losing their homes they have come to love. The cats are being faced with a choice: Stay loyal to a crumbling society or join the Others and adopt their strange ways.
The war is coming. What side will you choose?
